As always, be sure to answer the question! Do not retell the story unless it is directly relevant to the question. Each paragraph should directly answer the question using topic sentences like "The conclusion to the story is a direct fulfilment of Angelico's legacy because..." I have attached a document below which suggests some ways that you could answer this question. Each of these points could be a paragraph in an essay. Obviously, the first point (that Jose wanted the money to go to the poor and it did in fact go to them) is the vital one. But you need to say more than that: "in what ways (more than one) could you argue that the conclusion of the novel is the best solution to José Angelico’s ‘legacy’?

This is a simplistic attempt at mapping the story/characters to help people who are doing question 1 (recounting the story from Pia Dante's point of view). Don't rely on this diagram though: read the chapters noted on the right very carefully.
In this lesson we talked briefly about what to look for as you read Trash so that you'll be equipped to do your written assignment. Looking further ahead, this model also equips you for your Language Study in term three. The key skill you need to cultivate is seeing how meanings/effects/stories/values are all communicated through language.
